Explore Open Data at Hack Day in DC

DC is one of four cities selected for USA.gov’s Open Data Hack Day! From the official website:

Data is created every time someone clicks on a 1.USA.gov link, which happens about 56,000 times each day. Together, these clicks show what government information people are sharing with their friends and networks. No one has ever had such a broad view of how government information is viewed and shared online.

The Hack Day will bring together software developers, entrepreneurs, and curious citizens to look at the data produced by 1.USA.gov and discover new uses for the information.

Hack Day is taking place on Friday, July 29 from 10am-6pm. The event will be held at Busboys and Poets in the Cullen Room. The address is 1025 5th St NW in DC. If you would like to participate, please RSVP for the event no later than July 22.

HacDC is not affiliated with USA.gov.

Prusa Mendel Rolls Along

Slowly but surely, the Prusa Mendel is forming. After a misguided attempt at using imperial washers where metric was called for, this past Monday we completed the static frame. Next, we’ll cut plates for the print platform and assemble the axes. As always, if you want to be involved, come hang out at Microcontroller Mondays, and for the behind-the-scenes scoop, head over to the wiki page.

Byzantium Sprint 5 Reminder

This is a reminder that we will be meeting at HacDC on Friday the 24th of June at 8:00pm for pizza and last minute planning for Byzantium sprint 5. Saturday the 25th at noon we will be doing either intermesh connection testing or gathering metrics on our mesh network depending on how many people show up, and on Sunday at noon we will be continuing the same project we started on Saturday.
