Intro to Linux is back for a second run, starting from the beginning. Join us tomorrow, Wednesday October 19th at 7:30pm for the first session where we’ll introduce the largest collaborative software project in human history: Linux, what it is, where it came from and why it runs billions of smartphones and over half the Internet.
Introduction to Linux will meet nominally every other Wednesday at HacDC. Check our MeetUp schedule for details: http://www.meetup.com/hac-dc
For the first session, bring whatever laptop you use and we’ll help you install Linux inside VirtualBox. Or, if you’re ready to take the plunge and replace your current OS, install Linux on your machine. We also have a few Linux laptops available in our classroom. Intro to Linux costs as much as Linux itself: it’s free, as always.
As the series goes on, we’ll cover the Linux file system, package managers, networking and firewalls, compiling software from code and more.
